Pre-requisites: Law degree or mental health professional, unless otherwise approved. *Completion of the Screening for Power Imbalances and Family Violence course is highly recommended.
Elevate your family mediation skills over five intensive days, as you learn best practices for designing and delivering family mediation services.
This 5-day course will cover the key components of Family Mediation and provide a solid foundation of theory and practical application. At least one third of the Family Mediation Theory and Skills course will be experiential learning, and will combine lectures, small group work, and role plays, to cover issues such as:
- An introduction to Family Mediation
- The importance of Screening
- Conflict intervention models and theories
- Psychological issues in separation, divorce, family dynamics, and power imbalances
- Issues and needs of children in separation and divorce
- Mediation processes and techniques
- An overview of Family Law including parenting, support, the evaluation and division of assets and debts, and other issues relating to separation and divorce
- Getting to an agreement
- Family Mediation in practice
